Preschool Parenting Books

Bunny ReadingBecause each child is unique, parenting styles need to change even within families. And of course it never fails that - once you've mastered the "distraction" technique - your child has developed past that point and it no longer works. In this section of Preschool Parenting, we'll take a look at books that parents and educators of preschoolers might benefit by. Once in a great while, there's a parenting book that comes along and hits you between the eyes (that's a good thing). Educator Sura Hart and psychologist Victoria Kindle Hodson have co-written just such a book, called Respectful Parents, Respectful Kids: 7 Keys to Turn Family Conflict Into Co-operation. I can't recommend it highly enough, and hope that you'll take your own time out to read my review.

Sometimes I'm Bombaloo
A book your preschooler will ask you to read over and over again, Sometimes I'm Bombaloo is a temper tantrum, drawn out in exquisite pictures by illustrator Yumi Heo. The humorous, matter-of-fact approach taken by author Rachel Vail portrays not just the lead-up to those scary and out-of-control emotions of a temper tantrum, but also how they can be resolved. It's a great teaching book for preschool children, and its light touch makes Sometimes I'm Bombaloo a fun read too.

Is Gordon really in charge? Looks like these barnyard animals got quite the wake up call. Read the preschool book review.

Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type
Written by Doreen Cronin
"Farmer Brown has a problem. His cows like to type. All day long he hears click, clack, moo. Click, clack, moo. Clickety, clack, moo." These aren't your typical cows you'd find on any farm; these cows can type! And you'll never guess what they're typing to old Farmer Brown. Those cows may be talented, but you'll never guess which animals catch on quickly to the idea with a little manipulation of their own. Read the preschool book review.
